User Story

To start the design process, I imagined who the main users might be and attempted to solve their biggest struggles, or pain points.

ProcesShot

Three main user categories emerged, the lone adventurer, retired couple and family of four. For the sake of example, we will follow the journey of the lone adventurer, Jennifer.

Personas

Jennifer has always been interested in visiting the southwest but is anxious about the cost with the burden of student loans and other monthly bills. Fortunately, the very best deals are highlighted right on the splash page when she opens the site for the first time.

Nav Master – 1

Confident that her vacation might be in reach of her budget she decides to do some exploring, scrolling down reveals clearly delineated categories.

At the next point in the process, results are displayed for a category of Jennifer's choosing. She is relieved that she can set the budget among other parameters and is able to find an option that works perfectly for her.

Style Guide

The design is bold but minimal. Large sections of the site are dedicated to photos in order to highlight Utah's natural beauty.

Iconography

I wanted to highlight the diversity of activities in Utah without bombarding users with long category lists, so I created a series of icons in order to quickly communicate what there is to do.
